play and preciousness:

an 8 week online creative development immersion

Sundays April 12th - May 31st: This immersion is a two-part series of invitations to illuminate your unique creative process in a collaborative environment. The synergy of a cohort supports us in shedding light on blindspots and anchoring in realizations as they are witnessed. So much of our creative capacity is unconscious. By committing to this immersive exploration, you are committing to nurturing and developing your capacity and bringing more conscious awareness to it.

Month one focuses on the expansive nature of “Play” through embodiment practices and creative exercises to engage in a wide range of mediums activating different senses.

Month two focuses on the refinement process of “Preciousness”: what is worth materializing? How do you shift from an expansive lens to a narrow focus to bring something into form?

Overall the creative process is not a linear one! Join us as we explore: How does one weave and balance play and preciousness? We will come together every Sunday for an immersive experience and digest individually throughout the week.

Background:

Vivian and Kyle have been building shared language and dialogue around living creatively for 17 years and want to extend this foundation to nurture a creative cohort. We recognized that we all need and want more of this right now!

Kyle’s work is based in the energetics of creativity: the creative lenses of our own baggage, how our stories, thoughts, and beliefs materialize in the forms around us. She’s observed the correlation of chaos and creativity. As the chaos around us dissolves existing structures, it also widens realms of possibility. As more space emerges, it’s no coincidence that more individuals in her practice are expressing desire to make contact with their own creative capacity.

Vivian has worked as a professional artist for over two decades, negotiating the challenges of developing, maintaining and growing a creative voice. With deep connections to the craft community, her process is driven by an intimate relationship to material. Within this community, she has noticed a recent shift in students and emerging artists asking not how to build a specific piece, or how to succeed, but rather, how do I live a creative life?

Who could benefit from this immersion?

  • Anyone who wants to build new creative pathways by illuminating and shedding limiting unconscious patterning.

  • Individuals who want to hone their unique expressions alongside the momentum of a creative community

  • Those who want to create space for and commit to a weekly exploration of creativity and activation through multi-sensorial exercises.

  • Anyone who wants to fine-tune their sensitivities as creative instruments.

Facilitators:

Vivian Beer is a designer/sculptor based in New England. Her work combines the sensibilities of contemporary design, craft and sculpture in works that alter viewers’ expectations of and interface with the domestic landscape and public spaces. Beer received a BFA from Maine College of Art & Design and a MFA from Cranbrook Academy.

Vivian’s work is in many museum and public art collections including Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum; the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the Brooklyn Museum of Art; the Museum of Arts and Design. She has held numerous residencies, including at the Penland School of Craft. She was a Research Fellow at the Smithsonian, recipient of John D. Mineck Furniture Fellowship, winner of HGTV’s Ellen Degeneres Design Challenge, and was named a USA Artist Fellow in 2017.

Kyle Freeman is an artist and mystic working fluently in both seen and unseen realms. With over two decades of intuitive and embodied practice, she integrates architecture, movement studies, Taoist theory, and multiple schools of Feng Shui into her work. Trained in Architecture at Tulane University and The Cooper Union, she later left the field to explore a deeper metaphysical and experiential understanding of space and its healing capacity. Kyle works as a creative consultant and intuitive guide, facilitating dialogue between spirit and persona to cultivate conscious creation and honest self-responsibility.
